Born and raised in Texas, Shannon Almes has always wanted to practice law in the community she loves. Shannon is a business-minded attorney with a background in forensic accounting. At Feldman & Feldman, clients have come to rely on Shannon for her outstanding work ethic and attention to detail.

Shannon focuses her practice on employment law, representing both employers and employees in disputes. She helps employees with a wide-range of employment issues, ranging from review of employment and severance agreements to fighting discrimination and harassment. She also counsels employers to ensure their company remains in compliance with all state and federal employment laws, and represents businesses of all sizes should a legal dispute arise. Whether she is representing the employer or the employee, Shannon works closely with clients to understand the exact circumstances surrounding the issue in order to achieve the best possible resolution.

Shannon obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the prestigious Rice University. During her studies, she served as a Political Sciences research assistant, contributing to a study on election practices. After graduation, Shannon worked as a legal assistant, where she helped draft legal pleadings, conducted research, and communicated with clients.

In 2006, Shannon joined the accounting agency Arnie & Company as a forensic accountant. In this role, Shannon supervised projects related to complex commercial litigation, including document requests and review, data analysis, and investigations, among other duties. Shannon also worked with clients, including attorneys and company executives, to prepare reports of investigations and assisted with depositions and trial testimony.

Shannon later attended Santa Clara University School of Law where she wrote for the Santa Clara Journal of International Law, served as the co-benefit chair of the Women and Law Association, volunteered as the treasurer for the Black Law Students Association, and was a member of the school’s international arbitration moot court team, participating in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court.

During law school, Shannon also worked at the Los Gatos, California law firm of Toothman and Rose, gaining valuable experience in a variety of litigation cases as well as drafting business documents. Shannon was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2014 and is licensed to practice law in both Texas and California. Shannon is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of Texas, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Since graduating from law school, Shannon has worked for law firms focused on general counsel work – including reviewing and negotiating contracts – as well as commercial litigation and employment law.

Shannon was recently selected to the 2021 Texas Rising Stars list by Thomson Reuters and is an active member of the Houston Bar Association. Shannon speaks both English and Spanish, and received a Certificate in International Business Spanish after studying in Madrid, Spain. When not practicing law, Shannon enjoys cooking, playing volleyball, and competing in, or cheering on, almost any other sport.
